What should you clean your tile floors with
Is your grout turning black? Has it been awhile since you’ve done a real thorough cleaning? Yea no one really loves to clean do they, but hey it’s something that must be done or else there are some pretty bad consequences in the long run if you don’t.
Some of which being:
That last one might seem like the worse because it’s coming out of your pocket, but what about the safety of your family? Do you want your children playing on molded floors? I know I sure don’t.
Keeping your tile clean should be a daily routine. It’s important to make sure dirt and spills don’t settle for long on your tile so clean them up right way. If spills and dirt remains on your tile for a long period of time, it begins to settle especially around water and becomes a nightmare to clean.
So clean up after yourself using a mop or cloth with hot water and mild household detergent. You want to spot test using the detergent before you do the entire floor just to be safe. Like I said, it’s best to do this when you make a mess and need a right away clean up.
For regular maintenance, a simple sweep with a broom or vacuum daily will help remove all the dirt and debris from your tile and grout floors and prevent it from building up causing tougher cleaning jobs in the future. Be proactive and stay on top of your tile floor cleaning.
The best cleaning products are the one’s that natural and don’t have harmful chemicals. With regular maintenance adding chemicals is not necessary. Warm water is very effective in keeping your tile floors looking like new.
For an extra odor eliminating clean, add a cup of white vinegar with each gallon of water. This is highly recommended instead of using chemical based cleaning products specially if you have children or pets around the house.
It’s important to take care of your grout. If you’re not sure what grout is, it’s what holds your tile together. It’s white but you can get different color grout as well. Over time if you don’t take care of your grout it will turn black from the mold and dirt.
To stop this from happening to your grout, you must take care of your grout as well! When you first get new tile installed, it’s important to make sure your grout is sealed. This will prevent stains, dirty, and water from being able to seep through and ruin your tile and grout.
This is recommended by experts to do at least twice a year, Your tile manufacturer might recommend something else so check with them and when it doubt, do it twice a year.
To keep your grout clean from dirt or if your grout as already started discoloring, you can clean it with hydrogen peroxide and water, equal parts. Use a toothbrush to scrub your grout and remove the stains.
The most common type of tile is ceramic, which is the most durable and easiest to clean and maintain. You will find that cleaning the grout from ceramic tile is a lot easier to clean and remove stain than other surfaces like laminate.
